The Crazy Side of Orthodoxy has been reviewed!

 Greetings all --

Just a quick post (at the moment) to let you all know that an editor at Greek Orthodox Christians for Truth and Reform has reviewed my book The Crazy Side of Orthodoxy

This was a complete unsolicited review and really does illustrate the power of word of mouth recommendation in the publishing world. So I want to thank the editor for reviewing my book, and all the people at Greek Orthodox for Truth and Reform for posting the review on there website.

Oh yeah, and one more thing -- obviously the people at GoTruthReform "get" the book -- unlike so many people who once flocked to this blog insisting that Orthodox traditionalists do not exist. Funny, for a movement that isn't supposed to exist, there are an awful lot of people out there (other than myself) who think they do.

  1. "Flocked?" Are you aware of how few comments you have received?

  2. Are you aware of the fact that I received emails from people who did not post on the forum?

Are you aware of the fact that these "non existent" Traditionalists tracked me down -- in real life -- and called up my parish, wanting to know how I could have written "such a horrible book"? I surely have not aired all of the dirty laundry that Orthodox fundamentalists have provided for me. I may do so, someday.

I received so much hate mail after the initial publication of the The Crazy Side, that I could barely keep up with reading it. Granted, I didn't spend 8 hours a day at my computer reading email, but it was a lot. Perhaps some day I'll post some of this mail -- but at the moment I'm saving it. Who knows, maybe it will give enough material for a book. :D

Has traffic on my blog slowed down? Yup! Has my blog slowed down? Yup! of course, creating a blog that has thousands of visitors a day is -- practically -- a full time job. If you'd like to give some advice on how to increase traffic, I'd certainly be willing to take your advice.

In large part, the slowdown of this blog is my fault. I'm a poor blogger. I have admitted it before. I don't post every day, and surely cannot post about Orthodox fundamentalism every day. It is just too emotionally taxing. Do I aspire to become a better blogger? Of course. Yet, I also spend a great deal of time involved in other things. I have just completed another book on Orthodoxy, and I have other projects in the works.

Did I ever have thousands, or even hundreds, of visitors? Nope. Was I swamped with hate mail, priests and monks stalking me (in real life) and people "flooding" my inbox with weird emails -- yup! Not at the level of some gigantic superstar author, but far more than I expected.

    1. I found you, but I have to say it was difficult. Even after googling for hours on fundamentalist (Ephraim) orthodoxy. I haven't read your book but sounds like it is needed.

  3. Hmmm, that's weird. I wonder if you mis-typed my name? (An easy one to do that with...LOL!) I'm the first result in a google search, so that's definitely weird. Glad you found my blog now, and I definitely hope you check out the book.
